![]() Ends with the Heart of the Mantra on the last line The Mantra The Mantra itself is very poetic – nearly every line starts with Amrta and ends with “e”ģ. Invocation to the Triple Jewel and Amitabha Buddha’s full Title as a BuddhaĢ. It is said that it can even eradicate the evil karma from the 5 rebellious acts (the worst types of offenses that can be committed) and 10 evil deeds. So this mantra functions to uproot our severe, evil karmic obstructions to help us achieve rebirth in the Land of Utmost Happiness/Ultimate Bliss of Amitabha Buddha. So we’ve been reciting this Buddha’s name for years without much attainment.īecause of our bad karma creating obstacles for us, preventing us from being reborn in Amitabha’s Pure Land. This particular mantra (as well as the short version) is to help those of us who have been reciting Amitabha Buddha’s name for years without much success. This is a Vajrayana teaching (what Chinese Buddhism calls the Secret School of Buddhism). So this is the personal mantra of Amitayus Buddha/Amitabha Buddha, translated by Gunabhadra. So Wu Liang Shou Ru Lai means Amitayus Buddha – which is another name for Amitabha Buddha (Amitabha means Infinite/Limitless Light)
